![]() Some game makers know pretty well how todo that properly. this is why console downloads are bs since they also have to go through a long. Game developers should be smart to move small files into a compressed store file and let it unpack on the pc itself but thats onto them to make better use of the tools available. steam installs as it downloads which taxes your HDD if its a slow one. But i do mind seeing massive data/video files coming in at the same low speeds in my case around 3 MB/s as well. So basically i do not mind seeing some times a slower download. If this is the case, you should really look for any background applications that are using the internet in large chunks. Usually, it’s caused by outside factors that are taking valuable bandwidth away from Steam. But even with the huge games you can have tons of small files as well. If truth be told, slow download speeds within Steam are rarely caused by Steam itself. It seems like the download is reliant on on how much disk is being used. ![]() ![]() ( i asked him to remove and redownload a game we used to play together and he confirmed the same low speeds as i have.īut i can tell why smaller games give lower speeds in general, they consist mostly out of smaller files which do not really help when you want a faster download. Steam uses a certain amount of disk per second. ![]() My mate works at twente university and has fiber/cable as well 1000 Mbit/s is normal for him up and down. I can not help it but my guess is that your plain download speed probably is faster or equal to your upload. Get the idea if i look at your numbers that your having a cable connection because of the high upload speed. ![]()
